We are building a web app based on SIPP (https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2025.07.08.663673v1), a pipeline that transforms user-uploaded images or SMPL models into personalized musculoskeletal (MSK) models.
We are looking for a hands-on research assistant to help bring this system into production.
Your Responsibilities
Backend
- Containerize processing pipelines using Docker (image → body hull → MSK model)
- Design and implement APIs for model generation workflows
- Integrate compute-heavy pipelines (Python-based, e.g. biomechanical modeling)
Frontend
- Build a clean, modern web interface
- Implement upload flows (images, SMPL files)
- Visualize outputs (3D body hull / MSK model)
Additional Tasks
- Develop benchmarking pipelines for model evaluation
- Set up a lightweight newsletter / user management system
Requirements
At least some experience with:
- Frontend: React / Next.js (or similar)
- Backend: Python (FastAPI / Flask) or Node.js
- Docker & containerized workflows
Familiarity with at least one:
- 3D visualization
- Scientific / ML pipelines
Ability to work independently and structure systems end-to-end
Nice to Have
- Experience with biomechanical modeling (e.g. OpenSim)
- Experience with SMPL or human body models
- DevOps (CI/CD, cloud deployment)
