Dear @FAU Students,

The Machine Learning and Data Analytics (MaD) Lab is excited to offer a wide range of seminars in the upcoming summer semester (SS22). The common denominator is AI applied to the most diverse fields. These seminars offer you the opportunity to dive directly into the hottest topics of our research.

  • Catching your eyes: AI-driven modeling and analysis of eye-tracking data (ETS). Eye-tracking constitutes a powerful tool to study human gaze behavior and it can be used to assess the health condition of individuals. The aim of this seminar is to become familiar with eye-tracking data and their use in different domains, from neuroscience and artificial intelligence (to understand and simulate human attention), to medicine and psychology (to identify eye-tracking based biomarkers).

  • Green AI – AI for Sustainability and Sustainability of AI (GREENAI). Can we use AI to combat global climate change? How can advances in machine learning and data science help to monitor climate crises and to conserve nature? What is the role of AI in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the manufacturing industries, transportation infrastructure, agriculture, and power sector? In this seminar, we will develop and discuss future perspectives of AI for sustainability, considering the sustainability of AI itself.

  • Legged Locomotion of Robots (LLR). Legged robots help researchers understand human and animal locomotion and find application in many fields, for example to aid in dangerous environments and in rehabilitation. The goal of this seminar is to become familiar with different algorithms and analysis methods that are used for legged robotics.

  • Maschinelles Lernen und Datenanalytik für Industrie 4.0 (MADI40). Companies in all kinds of industries are producing and collecting rapidly more and more data from various sources. The aim of this seminar is to give students insights about state-of-the-art machine learning and data analytics methods and applications in Industry 4.0 and adjacent fields.
