Kai studied physics at the university of Erlangen-Nuremberg with a special interest in theoretical physics. While in his Bachelor studies, he was involved in research about the fundamental structure of spacetime, he turned to more applied semiconductor optics in his Master’s work at the Max Planck Institute for the science of light. During that time he was also freelancing in the field of data analytics consulting and discovered his interest for machine learning. So in 2021, Kai joined the MaD-Lab to work on fraud prevention in e-commerce, with an academic focus on graph-based classification methods and anomaly detection.
