Alexander joined the Lab in June 2022. He completed both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in medical engineering at FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg. He specialized in device engineering and prosthetics. He got his first hands-on experience with biomechanics during his bachelor’s thesis about gesture recognition using dielectric elastomer sensors. His interest in understanding the movement of the human body intensified during his master’s thesis at MaD lab, where he investigated ground contact models in biomechanical simulations.

After a short excursion into the industry, he returned to the MaD lab to start his PhD. In collaboration with Siemens Healthineers as well as world record surfer Sebastian Steudtner, he will research biomechanical conditions during Big Wave Surfing.

Welcome Alexander!
