Low power electronics for sports and fitness applications

Abstract

In research cooperation with the Fraunhofer IIS and IISB, as well as local companies, this project is intended to support the pilot phase of the Nationales Leistungszentrum (NLZ) for electronic systems with regard to low power electronics for sports and fitness applications. Employing newly developed and existing wearable sensor technology, various biosignals of athletes or clinical subjects are to be recorded in real- life environments and successively evaluated. The goal for this particular project is for example the development and validation of (embedded) analysis procedures for vital signs using appropriate methods from the field of pattern recognition research. The intention is to improve the development of the sensor technology and to enable large- scale individual or team-based statistical evaluations which can optimize the performance of athletes and reduce their risk of injury.
