Madeleine Flaucher and colleagues published their recent work “Smartphone-Based Colorimetric Analysis of Urine Test Strips for At-Home Prenatal Care” in the IEEE Journal of Translational Engineering in Health and Medicine. This work has been a result of a great cooperation between the MaD Lab and the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics (Universitätsklinikum Erlangen).

In their work, the authors present an automated pipeline for urinalysis with urine test strips using smartphone camera images. The findings demonstrate that the proposed approach leads to less human error, increased accuracy, and reduces the burden on the medical staff.
