Dario joined the MaD lab in November as a Postdoc. Previously, he spent one year as a Postdoc at the NeuroSense joint lab in Siena (Italy), developing machine learning techniques for the analysis of eye-tracking data. He received his Ph.D. in Smart Computing from the University of Florence (Italy), his M.Sc. and B.Sc. in Mathematics from the University of Palermo (Italy). As a Ph.D. student, he visited the Vision Lab at the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena (United States).

His research interest broadly fall at the crossroad of computer vision, machine learning, and neuroscience with the main purpose of building systems that approach the generalization capabilities of human perception, its ability to deal with noise and clutter as well as to adapt fast to new diverse environments. In particular, he studied the problem of modeling human attention on video streaming to equip systems with the ability to focus computational resources on salient events.
